ALTENMARKT - ZAUCHENSEE FOR YOUR

Altenmarkt, also known as
the "Sunny Heart of the
Enns-Pongau region", is a
beautiful town in the Salzburger Land (only 65 km
from Salzburg City, home of the
world-famous festival and "City
of Mozart"), a place where the
ambience of ancient traditions
and authentic customs can be
felt wherever you go.
At first glance, visitors notice
the open and young face of
Altenmarkt-Zauchensee. But
its feet are also firmly planted
on historic ground: attesting to
this is Altenmarkt's parish
church, which features a stone
statue of the "Holy Mary with
Child" dating from 1393,
together with a variety of
contrasting architectural
styles, such as a Gothic nave
and a late-Baroque onion tower.
Green meadows, lush high

In winter, enjoy the benefits
of an optimal location in the
midst of the ski area. The Zauchtalerhof
lies right on the slopes of the Altenmarkt-
Radstadt ski area. Zauchensee (see
photo above) is easy to reach
with the ski shuttle. The
legendary
"Tauern Trail" -
setting for the famous annual "Tauern
Run" - is only 900 meters away.
And then there's winter riding -
always a memorable experience.
Head out along the winter hiking
paths and enjoy our magnificent
panoramas, or take a romantic
horse-drawn sleigh ride as you
explore the countryside!
Direct access to the "Ski
Circus" right from our front
door - with the
state-of-the-art lifts of the Ski
Amadé,
glorious sun-drenched slopes,
sun-skiing in springtime and
warm, friendly huts when it's
time for a refreshment break.
At the base station of the
Altenmarkt lifts, you will find
a practice lift for beginners
and a ski kindergarten for the
youngsters.
